We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Intern wanting to enter the job market. The intern with assist, work alongside and be mentored by our Improvement Officer. The successful candidate will assist in identifying areas within the organisation where processes can be enhanced, develop strategies to implement improvements and monitor progress to ensure ongoing efficiency.

Requirements:

- Education: Completed Tertiary qualification (BTech / Advanced Diploma / BEng in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management) and not currently studying.

- Experience: 0 to 1 years of hands-on working experience in a manufacturing, production, or high-speed printing environment.

- Methodology: Demonstrated practical experience applying Lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.

- Location: Applicants must currently reside in Cape Town or be willing to relocate to Cape Town at their own expense. No relocation assistance will be provided by the company.

Duties:

- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify bottlenecks, cycle time variations, and material waste.

- Process Mapping & Documentation: Map standard operating procedures (SOPs), document current-state workflows, and design optimized future-state processes.

- Project Support & Execution: Lead and support structured Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects from conception through to execution.

- Research & Benchmarking: Research industry best practices, evaluate technological solutions, and benchmark operational metrics (such as OEE).

- Training & Development: Collaborate with frontline staff and technical maintenance teams to coach and train personnel on Lean principles and new process standards.

- Quality & Safety Improvement: Assist in identifying ergonomic risks and implementing corrective actions to ensure high quality and standard compliance.

- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate project logs, prepare executive summaries of improvement initiatives, and track cost savings.

Skills:

- Analytical and critical thinking with strong data manipulation skills.

- Strong oral and written communication to present technical findings clearly.

- Attention to detail and advanced problem-solving abilities (Root Cause Analysis).

- Ability to collaborate effectively with employees across all levels of the organization, from shop-floor technical staff to upper management.

- High flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment
