Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Fleet & Control Room Operator [12 Hour Shift Work – Fixed Term Contract] to join our team at the Germiston branch .

Role Overview
The Control Room Operator will play a pivotal role by assisting the Operational Team by providing key surveillance and fleet monitoring and tracking. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring systems, managing incidents and alerts, coordinating responses, and ensuring the effective operation of our control room.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CCTV MONITORING
- Monitor CCTV camera systems for the company sites.
- Identify, assess, and respond to incidents and alarms.
- Manage and investigate alerts generated by systems.
- Dispatch relevant personnel when required.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, activities, and communications.
- Extract, review, and provide CCTV footage for incidents and investigations.
- Liaise with stakeholders, reaction units, emergency services, and management.
- Escalate incidents in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all control room procedures and protocols are followed.
- Monitor system functionality and report technical faults promptly.
- Prepare incident reports and shift handover documentation.
FLEET MONITORING
- Monitor the movement of vehicles, ensuring adherence to planned routes and schedules.
- Collaborate with dispatchers, fleet controllers and branch managers to maintain seamless operations.
- Coordinate with the workshop to schedule routine services and resolve vehicle breakdowns promptly.
- Answer telephone for fleet enquiries, responding to calls within remit of responsibility professionally and efficiently.
- Receive all breakdown calls and inform the Workshop team accordingly.
- Compile and submit hourly operational reports to management.
- Track and report on fleet utilisation and fuel efficiency to drive cost savings.
- Ensure all line haul operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and local and national transportation regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- 3 Years and above Control Room, CCTV Monitoring, Security Operations, or Call Centre experience is required.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts.
- Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions during emergency situations.
- Reliable transport to and from work.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- Strong administrative and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer-focused approach when dealing with clients and stakeholders.
