Credit Analyst

Role Purpose

Responsible to evaluate the financial health of customers to determine whether to approve their application by implementing the existing Credit Vetting policies and procedures, to identify any fraudulent intentions and escalate them accordingly. To ensure RICA compliance for consumers and to manage the risk associated with effectively and efficiently.

Key Performance Areas

· Evaluating customers credit data and financial statements in order to determine the degree of risk involved in approving credit to them

· Preparing reports about the degree of risk in approving credit to customers

· Analysing client records and using the data to recommend payment plans

· Conferring with credit associations and references to exchange credit information on customers

· Evaluating the financial status of customers by producing financial ratios through computer programs

· Filling out applications including the credit analysis and credit request summaries, then submitting these credit applications for approval

· Enter, update and retrieve information for credit applications.

· Determine the creditworthiness of the customers.

· Designate the degree of risk involved in extending credit by performing a cash flow analysis of each customer.

· Ensure there is no fraudulent intentions and activities by applicants

· Escalate and inform the necessary parties of any identified fraud activities by applicants

· Mark and identify any fraud suspicions within applications

· Ensure that all approved applications comply with MTN criteria.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies

Requirements

· Appropriate financial/credit vetting qualification

· Experience with Credit Applications / Credit Vetting for Credit Cards with Big 4 banks

· Need excellent communications skills

· Ability to think logically, and provide logical answers

· Organised, ethical, energetic, confident, enthusiasm

· Solid understanding of legislation

· Team player, and an ability to work with minimal supervision

Experience

· Grade 12/ Matric certificate

· 3 - year University Diploma advantageous

· Credit risk assessment and fraud prevention (experience advantageous)

· Advanced Excel skills

· Knowledge of Telecommunications products and services

· Knowledge of the RICA Act

· Knowledge of the National Credit Act

· Knowledge of iBridge policies
