Job description
- LOCATION: V&A Waterfront, South Arm
- REPORTING TO: Fleet Services Manager
ROLE OVERVIEW:
To strategically oversee the entire crewing process, encompassing the meticulous verification and organization of all essential vessel and crew documentation and deployment of vessels in accordance and adherence to SAMSA and company standards**.**
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Administrate crewing requirements of vessel effectively and timeously
- Assemble the necessary crew members for the vessel before it sails – through Mintor
- Ensure that vessel provisions/stores are stocked as specified.
- Administrate crew members shore leave and required documentation effectively.
2. Conduct required crew adjustments at sea during emergency situations
- When an emergency arises, substitute seafaring personnel with other personnel.
- Communicate with the captain timeously and choose a meeting location in close proximity to the vessels.
3. Administrate safe manning of vessels.
- Consult with SAMSA regarding the documentation and legal requirements pertaining to vessels.
- Obtain required safety certificates for vessels timeously.
- Provide support in the efficient and effective execution of skipper and vessel licensing.
4. Manage and administrate vessels and report on vessel movement
- Timeously report to Fleet manager on vessel movement.
- Conduct total costings on each vessel accurately when at sea.
- Administrate VMS and DAFF on vessels with regards to tracking systems of vessels.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in Business Administration, Maritime Studies or Office Administration (advantageous)
- +5 years’ experience within field of work - crewing
- Experience in crewing, shipping, fishing, marine, or logistics environments preferred
- Experience working with crew scheduling and personnel administration.
- Valid code B drivers license
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Report preparation and administration support
- Understanding of maritime and fishing industry regulations
- Knowledge of labour legislation and employment contracts
- Management of crew records and personnel files
- Scheduling and coordination of crew changes
- Tracking crew availability and vessel assignments
