Your day at NTT DATA
The Managed Services Cross Technology Engineer (L3) is a seasoned engineering role, responsible for providing a service to clients by proactively identifying and resolving technical incidents and problems.
Through pre-emptive service incident and resolution activities, as well as product reviews, operational improvements, operational practices, and quality assurance this role will maintain a high level of service to clients.
The primary objective of this role is to ensure zero missed service level agreement (SLA) conditions. The Managed Services Cross Technology Engineer (L3) is responsible for managing tickets of high complexity, conducts advanced and complicated tasks, and provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems.
This position uses considerable judgment and independent analysis within defined policies and practices and applies analytical thinking and deep technical expertise in achieving client outcomes, while coaching and mentoring junior team members across functions.
The Managed Services Cross Technology Engineer (L3) focusses across two or more technology domains such as (but not limited to) Cloud, Security, Networking, Applications and / or Collaboration and may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain hybrid infrastructure platforms spanning Microsoft Azure, VMware virtualization, enterprise storage, backup, and networking technologies.
- Build, manage, and optimize Azure environments utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, including Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
- Deploy and administer Azure infrastructure services including Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Azure Storage, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Managed Disks, Azure Files, and Platform-as-a-Service offerings.
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes.
- Administer, maintain, and support VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and Site Recovery Manager environments.
- Manage enterprise storage platforms including NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, and other SAN/NAS solutions, ensuring performance, availability, and scalability.
- Configure and support Fibre Channel SAN environments, including storage networking, zoning, multipathing, HBA management, and SAN switch administration.
- Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Veeam, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Rubrik, and Zerto technologies.
- Monitor cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
- Investigate and resolve complex cross-technology incidents involving cloud, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and security platforms.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop permanent corrective actions to improve platform stability and service reliability.
- Implement infrastructure governance and security controls using Azure Policy, RBAC, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and industry best practices.
- Participate in cloud migration and modernization projects, including VMware-to-Azure migration initiatives and hybrid cloud solution implementations.
- Continuously identify opportunities for automation, operational improvement, standardization, and cost optimization.
- Mentor and coach Level 2 engineers on Azure cloud technologies, virtualization, storage, backup, and automation best practices.
- Lead technical infrastructure projects and deliver solutions within agreed timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.

- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services.

- Understanding of cloud architecture principles including scalability, high availability, resilience, security, and disaster recovery.

- Strong experience administering:

- VMware ESXi
- VMware vSAN
- VMware Site Recovery Manager
- VMware Cloud technologies
- Understanding of hybrid cloud integration between VMware and Microsoft Azure.
Storage and SAN
- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage platforms such as:
- NetApp ONTAP
- Dell EMC Unity/PowerMax
- Pure Storage
- HPE Storage Solutions
- Experience with:
- Fibre Channel SAN fabrics
- Brocade Fibre Channel switches
- SAN zoning
- LUN provisioning
- Storage replication
- Storage performance optimization
Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Experience with:
- Veeam Backup Replication
- Azure Backup
- Azure Site Recovery
- Rubrik
- Zerto
- Knowledge of DR design, testing, and operational recovery procedures.
Networking and Security
- Enterprise networking experience, including:
- VLANs
- Routing
- Firewalls
- Load Balancers
- VPNs

- Experience with cloud and infrastructure security practices.

- Demonstrated experience deploying and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
- Experience with Azure cloud architecture, migrations, governance, monitoring, and operational management.
- Experience administering VMware virtualization and enterprise storage environments.
- Experience managing Fibre Channel SAN environments and storage networking technologies.
- Strong understanding of ITIL-based operational processes and service delivery.
- Experience working with vendors, technology partners, and cross-functional engineering teams.
