Job description
JOB PURPOSE To implement and manage the Group's Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programmes and initiatives in line with the approved CSI strategy, ensuring effective programme delivery, sound governance, regulatory compliance and measurable social impact. The role is responsible for operational management of the CSI portfolio, stakeholder engagement, programme administration and impact reporting to support the Group's transformation and ESG objectives. JOB OBJECTIVES
- Implement a CSI strategy into annual operational plans and ensuring the successful delivery of community investment initiatives aligned to the group’s transformation goals and social impact priorities.
- Actively drive fundraising and partnership initiatives by coordinating donor engagement, grant administration and strategic partnership activities that enhance programme sustainability.
- Manage the operational delivery of the group’s CSI portfolio ensuring effective administration, governance, programme execution and compliance.
- Ensure governance, financial stewardship and regulatory compliance across all CSI activities, funded organisations and Trust operations, in accordance with applicable legislation, internal policies and governance standards.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including non-profit organisations, government departments (DSD, DoH), community partners, donors and internal business stakeholders to support effective programme delivery.
- Administer CSI funding and financial controls to ensure responsible allocation of resources, effective budget management and transparent utilisation of funds.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on programme performance and social impact, providing accurate management information, sustainability reporting and audit evidence.
- Promote awareness of the Group's CSI initiatives by supporting internal and external communication activities that showcase the Group's contribution to community development.
- Drive continuous improvement across the CSI portfolio by identifying opportunities to improve programme effectiveness, governance processes and operational efficiency.
- Implement and manage the group’s volunteering programme to build capability, foster collaboration and deliver high performance aligned to the Group's values
Minimum requirements
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE
- South African CSI landscape and legislation (e.g., BBBEE, NPO Act, Companies Act)
- Department of Social Development, Education and Department of Health mandates
- Development and delivery of a sustained donor funding model
- Public-private partnerships and donor funding mechanisms
- Corporate governance and sustainability frameworks
- Data privacy
- Best practice standards marketing CSI initiatives
- CSI trends and best practices
- B-BBEE and audit methodology
- Department of Social Development reporting
JOB RELATED SKILLS

JOB EXPERIENCE
- 6–8 years’ experience in corporate social investment, development sector, or social impact project management.
- At least 3 years in a managerial or specialist role overseeing social investment programmes or community development initiatives.
- Proven experience working with NPOs/PBOs, including governance, compliance, and funding oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to raise funds and leverage an existing network of potential donors
- Solid understanding of BBBEE legislation, SARS PBO regulations, and social impact reporting frameworks.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, especially with government departments (e.g., Health, Social Development, Education) and community organisations, and executive leadership.
- Exposure to the healthcare or education sectors will be advantageous.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Development, Social Sciences, Business/Commerce, Public Administration, Development Studies or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Corporate Social Investment, Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, or Development Studies (advantageous).
- Certifications in Corporate Governance, NPO/PBO Compliance, or Sustainability Reporting (advantageous).
