Job description

Job Title : CSSD Packer

Location : Dr. G.M. Pitje day Hospital (Johannesburg).

Reports to : Unit Manager

JOB SUMMARY

To supply medication efficiently and professionally to patients, wards and theatre. The incumbent, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist, prepares prescriptions, selects and compounds medication and accurately labels medication before dispensing.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

NQF: 4 Certification.
CSSD CPD Course.

Minimum Experience

1-2 years’ hospital experience.

Key Competencies

Computer literacy.

DELIVERABLES

Ensure that infection prevention standard operating procedures are applied consistently and effectively.
Ensure a tidy, clean and uncluttered work area at all times in order to promote effective task completion.
Accurately test the autoclave (as a quality control measure) on a daily basis to ensure it effectively sterilizes equipment and to eliminate contingencies in theatre.
Escalate any problems with the autoclave to Line Manager / Unit Manager for maintenance and resolution.
Ensure the cleaning and sterilization of all equipment and materials in preparation for procedures and according to standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
Continuously re-sterilize equipment and materials, as and when required.
Correctly prepare all cleaning solutions required for the daily cleaning and disinfecting of instruments, as per manufacturing criteria.
Ensure the hygienic and sterile packaging and sealing of any theatre equipment or prosthesis according to standard operating procedures.
Ensure that the sterilization indicator is present on every pack and that every pack is correctly marked.
