Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level is required to ensure foundational education standards. Candidates should demonstrate computer literacy to effectively manage stock systems and communication. Flexibility to work various shifts is essential to meet operational demands. Previous experience in retail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), particularly in stockroom or receiving environments, is advantageous, providing practical knowledge of stock handling procedures. Strong customer service skills are necessary to engage positively with customers and colleagues. Attention to detail is vital for accurate stock receipt, dispatch, and shrinkage minimization. Good organizational and planning abilities help manage workload efficiently. Understanding and adherence to health and safety standards ensure a safe working environment. Reliability, honesty, and a professional attitude are crucial for maintaining company ethics and operational integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and dispatch stock accurately, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and storage areas to uphold safety and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and report damaged or incorrect deliveries promptly.
  • Apply strict receiving procedures to minimize stock shrinkage and prevent loss.
  • Handle inter-branch transfers (IBTs) and returned-to-vendor (RTV) stock efficiently and accurately.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge to ensure proper handling of hot and cold items.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHASA) standards during all receiving activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers and assisting with inquiries professionally.
  • Report any acts of dishonesty or irregularities related to stock to the line manager or designated hotline.
  • Work flexible shifts as required, demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and professional conduct at all times.
