Reporting to: Head: Supply Chain

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and optimal demand planning of products through end-to-end S&OP process management. The position works with cross-functional commercial teams to ensure sound Customer Risk Management initiatives are implemented and aligned with the division’s business goals.

  • Minimum 5 years’ related experience including 3 years supply chain management experience.

  • B.Com or Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain or related fields.

  • FMCG background preferred.

  • Experience in Planning, Logistics or Buying would be advantageous.

  • Previous experience in managing a team of demand planners would be advantageous.

  • Strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, and strong communication skills.

  • Experience in ERP systems and forecasting models.

  • Experience in Depot Replenishment Planning and Customer order management would be advantageous.

  • Experience with working with Divisional Exco team members and complex categories would be advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience in key business process management and optimisation.

Key Job Outputs

Forecasting and S&OP process management

  • Ensure the efficient flow of products through accurate forecasting and demand analysis, including but not limited to:
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights for demand forecasting;
    • Utilizing statistical models and market trends to predict future demand and optimize inventory levels;
    • Monitoring and analysing inventory performance, identifying variances, and proposing adjustments as needed;
    • Generating reports and presenting findings to support strategic decision-making; and
    • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to build customer specific forecasts per region, which then feeds into the National view.
  • Lead the monthly cross functional Demand Review meetings and quarterly Divisional Exco S&OP meetings.

Customer Risk Management (CRM)

  • Oversee customer relationship management, focusing on building and maintaining strong connections with customers supply chain planning teams, including but not limited to:
    • Developing and implementing CRM strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty from a supply chain perspective;
    • Utilizing CRM software to analyse customer data, track interactions, and identify areas for improvement;
    • Collaborating with marketing and sales teams to align CRM initiatives with business goals;
    • Monitoring customer feedback and implementing tactics to address issues and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Build relationships with the Customer DC’s.
  • Obtain the Customer Supplier scorecards and focus on ensuring that we meet the scorecard requirements from a supply chain perspective.

Stock Management

  • Constantly review the Supply Chain efficiency in relation to our changing demand conditions and recommend amendments to the inventory planning model parameters.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Sales department with regard to the identification and effective disposal of excess and at risk of expiry inventories at acceptable profit margins.
  • Collaborates with affiliate buyers, brand & sales team to manage and shape demand through determining acceptable consensus forecasts. Suggestion

Customer Order Management

  • Oversight responsibilities to below:

    • Ensure pricing and system orders are correct.
    • Liaise with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless order management (NDD and NOD), shipment coordination, and effective stock administration.
    • Execute planned activities that would ensure efficient inventory management across Customers.
    • Provide timely and accurate weekly stock reports, fostering effective communication with the sales team.

    Distribution Management

  • Manage distribution relationships, both internal and external.

  • Liaise with Adcock Ingram logistics, Sales and Customer DC Managers to ensure the stock is in the right place regionally, keeping in mind the high-volume moving customer Distribution Centre (DC) locations and the priority SKUs for those specific regions.

  • Manage Inter Branch Transfers, and oversee national replenishment initiatives.

Stakeholder management and Demand Planning portfolio

  • Ensure effective outcomes by establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Continuous cross functional engagements across Marketing, Sales and Category Marketing teams.
  • Continuous engagements across Supply Chain teams.
  • Regular engagements with Divisional Exco members.
  • Demand planning responsibilities across Healthcare, Personal Care and Homecare categories including respective sub-categories.
  • Demand planning responsibilities for over 450 SKU’s in total.

People Management and Leadership:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to direct report(s).
  • Set clear performance standards and objectives and drive performance.
  • Actively lead by example and champion diversity and inclusion in everyday actions and decisions.
  • Model and entrench the values of the organization.
  • Drive a positive, values and performance driven culture.
  • Coach and develop employee(s).
