Job description
Location: Cape Town
Employment type: Full-time, shift-based
Applications close: 31 October 2026
Valternative is building the technology, infrastructure and support ecosystem powering Africa’s transition to electric mobility. We provide electric vehicles and motorcycles, charging and battery-swapping infrastructure, fleet-management software, driver applications, full-maintenance leasing, roadside assistance and recovery support.
This is not a traditional call-centre role.
Our Customer Experience & Mobility Support Agents work at the intersection of people, mobility, technology and operations.
One conversation may involve helping a rider complete a battery swap. The next could mean assisting a commercial client with its fleet-management platform, coordinating roadside recovery for a driver or identifying a recurring product issue that needs to reach our Technology team.
Who you will support
- Valternative drivers and riders
- Commercial and enterprise clients
- Fleet managers and operational teams
- Drivers and riders operating our commercial clients’ assets
- Users of our driver apps, client portals and fleet-management platforms
What you will do
- Support customers through live chat, telephone, WhatsApp and digital support channels.
- Resolve queries relating to onboarding, applications, payments, rentals, charging, battery swapping and vehicle usage.
- Help commercial clients navigate our software, fleet-tracking tools, dashboards and reports.
- Assist users with platform access, asset visibility, account information and product-related queries.
- Log and coordinate maintenance, workshop bookings and repair updates.
- Activate breakdown, roadside-assistance and recovery workflows.
- Keep drivers, riders and commercial clients updated until their cases are resolved.
- Identify and escalate urgent safety, security, accident, theft and asset-related incidents.
- Investigate software problems and capture clear information for our Product and Technology teams.
- Monitor support queues and ensure every case is acknowledged, categorised and resolved within the required service level.
- Identify recurring customer issues and help us improve the underlying product or process.
- Use approved AI tools to research issues, summarise cases and improve the speed and quality of support.
- Take ownership from first contact to final resolution.
You could be a great fit if you have experience in
- E-hailing platforms such as Uber, Bolt or inDrive
- Vehicle rental, leasing or fleet management
- Automotive or motorcycle dealerships
- Dealership service departments or workshop coordination
- Roadside assistance, breakdown support or vehicle recovery
- Delivery, courier or last-mile logistics platforms
- SaaS, fintech or technology-enabled customer support
- CRM, ticketing, live-chat or fleet-management platforms
- Commercial or enterprise customer service
Experience in more than one of these environments would be a strong advantage.
The person we are looking for
You are energetic, curious and comfortable learning new technology.
You communicate clearly with everyone from a rider on the roadside to a commercial fleet manager. You remain calm when things get busy, take responsibility for solving problems and understand that vehicle downtime affects both a person’s income and a client’s operation.
You should be someone who:
- Is specifically available for night and overnight shifts
- Can work weekends and public holidays according to an assigned roster
- Communicates confidently in writing and over the phone
- Remains alert, dependable and responsive throughout the shift
- Learns new applications and digital platforms quickly
- Can explain technical information in simple language
- Stays calm during breakdowns and urgent incidents
- Pays close attention to detail
- Investigates problems instead of immediately passing them on
- Takes ownership and closes the communication loop
- Is genuinely interested in AI and its practical application at work
- Wants to build a career in mobility, technology and customer experience
You do not need to be an electric-vehicle expert on day one. We can teach you our vehicles, charging network, maintenance model and technology platforms.
What is harder to teach is curiosity, accountability, urgency and genuine care for the customer.
Why Valternative?
Electric mobility will not be scaled through vehicles alone. It requires reliable infrastructure, intelligent technology, responsive maintenance and exceptional human support.
At Valternative, you will gain hands-on exposure to electric mobility, fleet technology, charging infrastructure, commercial clients and digital customer operations.
We move quickly. We test, learn and improve.
If you enjoy solving real problems, learning new technology and helping build better systems, we want to hear from you.
