Customer Service Representative

We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to look after our existing customer base. This is a client-facing role, so you will be out visiting customers regularly rather than sitting behind a desk all day. You will be the person our clients call when they need answers, and the person inside Cargo Compass who makes sure those answers are right.

What the role involves

You will visit customers on a regular call cycle, understand how their supply chains work, and make sure we are delivering what we promised. Day to day you will keep clients informed before they have to ask, resolve queries around rates, documentation, customs and delays, and work closely with our operations, estimates and clearing and forwarding teams. You will also pick up on service issues early and bring them back to us so we can fix them, and identify where we can do more for a client we already have.

What we need from you

At least ten years of operational experience in freight forwarding covering airfreight and seafreight, on both imports and exports. You need to have worked the operations side properly, not just observed it. On top of that, we need proven customer service experience within freight forwarding specifically. Someone who understands the industry from the inside and can hold a credible conversation with a logistics manager about why a container is sitting at the port.

You will also need a valid driver's licence and your own vehicle, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage a portfolio of clients without being chased. Working knowledge of customs procedures, Incoterms and the local port and airport environment is essential.

Experience with cargo management systems such as Ship Shape, exposure to a range of trade lanes, and existing relationships in the market.
