Wetrans International Freight and Logistics is a growing logistics and freight forwarding company. We help businesses navigate international trade by ensuring their goods move smoothly across borders. We are looking for a detail-oriented Customs Clearance Entry Clerk to join our operations team based in our Cape Town CBD office.
Position Summary
The Customs Clearance Entry Clerk prepares and processes customs entries for inbound and outbound shipments. In this role, you will ensure compliance with all government and SARS regulations. You will work closely with customs authorities, carriers, and clients to prevent delivery delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate customs clearance documentation.
- Classify goods using the Harmonised System (HS) tariff codes.
- Calculate import duties, tariffs, and taxes for shipments.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy.
- Interface with customs officials to resolve clearance issues or inspections.
- Update clients on shipment status and clearance progress.
- Maintain organized digital and physical files of all customs transactions.
- Monitor changes in customs regulations and compliance laws.
Qualifications and Skills
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (a certificate or diploma in logistics/international trade is a plus).
- Junior Level: 1–3 years of experience in customs data entry.
- Mid-Level: 3–5 years of independent customs entry experience.
- Strong knowledge of local SARS customs regulations and HS tariff classification.
- Experience using customs clearance software platforms (e.g., Shipshape, EDI).
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Remuneration and Contract Terms
- Salary: R8 000 to R13 000 per month (Based on experience level: Junior vs. Mid-Level).
- Probation: 3-month probation period applies.
- Paid time off and statutory holiday leave.
Pay: R8 000,00 - R13 000,00 per month
