Job description

Reload Logistics is looking for an experienced Customs Manager to lead and oversee customs clearing operations across our Johannesburg, Durban, and Richards Bay branches.

The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with Customs and Excise legislation, manage bonded warehouse operations, lead customs clearing teams, and drive operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with Customs and Excise legislation and customs procedures.
Oversee import, export, transit, rebate, and bonded customs activities.
Manage bonded warehouse operations and stock reconciliation.
Lead and develop customs teams across multiple branches.
Conduct compliance audits and manage customs investigations.
Ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation, and customs declarations.
Develop and improve customs policies, procedures, and operational controls.
Build strong relationships with SARS Customs and other regulatory authorities.
Identify and mitigate customs compliance risks.
Drive continuous process improvement and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

Relevant qualification in Customs, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Freight Forwarding, or a related field.
Customs Compliance or Customs Practitioner certification will be advantageous.
Minimum 8–10 years' experience in customs clearing and freight forwarding.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a Customs Management role.
Extensive knowledge of:
Customs & Excise legislation
Tariff classification
Customs valuation
Rules of Origin
Bonded warehousing
Customs audits
Transit and cross-border movements
Customs risk management
Freight forwarding operations
Experience managing bonded warehouses and multi-site customs operations.
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
