Job description
Role purpose
The Data Architect (Information & Data Architect) is responsible for the information and data architecture within Eskom Group IT’s Business Solution and Development Services (BSDS). The role designs conceptual and logical data models, defines how data flows into integration, and establishes the standards for master and reference data across the enterprise.
Working across Eskom’s many interfaced application systems, the resource applies formal data-modelling techniques, meta models and common information models to ensure data consistency and integrity, supporting Eskom’s readiness for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
Key responsibilities
- Produce data models in UML (for information architecture) and entity-relationship diagrams (ERD).
- Develop conceptual and logical data models that flow into integration.
- Apply normalisation and sound data-modelling discipline.
