Role:
The Data Manager (Epidemiology) is a key role within Airfinity working within the data team to produce insight and intelligence for our clients relating to different aspects of infectious diseases and biorisk. This role will focus on a wide range of pathogen, disease, and biorisk areas which will expand data coverage, inform research, modelling, and intelligence/insights. A major priority for this role is to use your expertise in geospatial data to inform data and technology products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a deep understanding of Airfinity data to support specific areas of data collection, annotation, and development
- Work independently on tasks or projects once given a clear brief
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of data, rigorously checking outputs against standards and procedures
- Take ownership of specific data areas or ongoing tasks
- Contribute to expanding and improving datasets through knowledge of data structures
- Coordinate with team members on cross-area projects, supporting delivery alongside more senior colleagues
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders outside the immediate team to ensure prioritisation of tasks
- Produce slides with minimal supervision and contribute to deep dives
- Provide detailed commentary on data changes and updates
- Answer area-specific questions in client calls
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and completeness
- Experience using healthcare data
- Fluent SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Knowledge of data structures within specific areas and ability to contribute to dataset improvement
- Ability to work independently with clear direction
- Clear and confident communication, both within and outside the team
- Working knowledge of Python
- Ability to clearly express ideas and contribute to team discussions and roadmap development
- Experience in Infectious Disease preferable and/or Epidemiology
This is a remote working role based in South Africa.
