We have an exciting opportunity for Data & Systems Advisor. The purpose of this role is to provide advisory expertise in P&O analytics, systems, and workforce insights to deliver data-driven recommendations that improve organisational effectiveness and decision-making.

Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. Job Description
As Data & Systems Advisor your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and risk management requirements applicable to the role.
People Analytics and Reporting:
- Analyse workforce data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities that support business and P&O objectives.
- Interpret and communicate workforce insights to enable evidence-based decision-making.
- Provide inputs to develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, management reports, and analytics solutions that provide meaningful workforce information.
- Monitor key people metrics, including workforce composition, turnover, recruitment, talent development, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, and performance indicators.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports that support operational and strategic workforce requirements.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and business-focused manner.
Business Advisory and Stakeholder Support
- Engage with P&O stakeholders to understand business needs and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
- Provide advice on workforce information, reporting requirements, and system capabilities to support informed decision-making.
- Facilitate the translation of business requirements into practical reporting, analytics, and system solutions.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance service delivery and user experience.
- Support managers and P&O practitioners in interpreting workforce data and applying insights appropriately.
Systems Management and Optimisation
- Act as a key user and adviser on P&O systems and digital tools.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve functionality, efficiency, and user adoption.
- Support the implementation of system enhancements, upgrades, and optimisation initiatives.
- Collaborate with technology and system support teams to resolve system-related issues and improve integration across platforms.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of digital solutions that improve P&O service delivery and operational effectiveness.
- Assist in evaluating new technologies and system capabilities to support business requirements.
Data Governance and Quality Management
- Promote adherence to data governance standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of workforce data across P&O systems.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies through appropriate validation and corrective actions.
- Support the implementation of data quality controls and monitoring processes.
- Ensure workforce information is maintained in accordance with organisational standards and legislative requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in data management practices.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve P&O processes through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and system optimisation.
- Recommend practical solutions to address inefficiencies, improve service delivery, and enhance user experiences.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the P&O function.
- Contribute to the standardisation and simplification of processes through technology-enabled solutions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvements and recommend adjustments where required.
Project Coordination and Change Support
- Coordinate and support projects related to people analytics, reporting, systems enhancements, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Assist in defining project requirements, deliverables, timelines, and success measures.
- Support testing, implementation, and user acceptance activities associated with system and process changes.
- Contribute to change management and adoption activities to ensure successful implementation of solutions.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure workforce data practices comply with applicable legislation, policies, standards, and governance requirements.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing accurate information and documentation.
- Identify risks associated with workforce data, reporting, and systems and recommend mitigation actions.
- Promote responsible and ethical use of workforce information in line with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory, company, and industry requirements.
Capability Building and User Support
- Provide guidance and support to users on workforce reporting tools, dashboards, and P&O systems.
- Assist in developing training materials, user guides, and process documentation.
- Support capability-building initiatives to improve data literacy and system utilisation within the P&O community.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices relating to people analytics and systems.
- Provide first-line advice and problem-solving support for reporting and system-related queries.
Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
- Keep abreast of developments in people analytics, workforce planning, digital technologies, reporting tools, and P&O information systems.
- Identify opportunities to introduce innovative approaches that improve workforce insights and decision making.
- Contribute to the development of data-driven practices within the P&O function.
This role is in People & Organisation (P&O) NC department on a Band 6 (D-Upper) level reporting to the Specialist Analytics, Reporting & Systems Sishen & Kolomela.
Qualifications
- Relevant National Diploma in Human Resource Management, specializing in HR Data Management, or in Information Technology-Systems Support (NQF6)
- SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of workforce analytics, people metrics, and management reporting, gained through 3-5 years’ experience.
- Advanced knowledge of P&O and Payroll systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors, SAC, NAV+, FLOW, OrgPlus).
- Knowledge and relevant experience of People & Organisation (P&O) policies, practices, and processes across the employee lifecycle would be advantageous.
- Understanding of business intelligence and data visualisation tools, including Power BI.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance requirements, and data privacy standards (e.g., POPIA).
