Delivery Driver & Bakery General Assistant

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and hard-working Delivery Driver & Bakery General Assistant to join our production and dispatch team.

In this dual role, you are essential to keeping our daily bakery operations running smoothly. Think of this position like a key hub in a supply chain: the baking team crafts fresh goods, and you ensure those products are accurately packed, carefully loaded, and delivered promptly and intact to our retail and wholesale clients. When you are not on the road, you will be on the bakery floor assisting with packing, staging orders, and supporting general daily operational duties.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliveries & Vehicle Care:

• Safely and punctually transport bakery orders across designated delivery routes in Cape Town.
• Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections (checking oil, water, tyre conditions, fuel, and cleanliness).
• Accurately handle delivery notes, sign-offs, and customer paperwork, returning them daily to management.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and hygienic delivery vehicle suitable for transporting food products.

2. Packing, Dispatch & Production Support:

• Assist in packaging, sealing, and labeling fresh products (muffins, biscuits, rolls, and specialty baked goods) to established quality and presentation standards.
• Pick, check, and stage customer orders accurately for morning dispatch.
• Load and unload bakery crates and cartons carefully to prevent transit damage.

3. General Bakery Assistance:

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in dispatch and staging areas in accordance with food safety standards.
• Assist in receiving raw ingredients and moving stock into designated storage areas.
• Support floor staff with general ad-hoc tasks during busy production periods.

Working Hours & Location Requirements:

• Start Time: Must be ready and able to start work promptly from 07:00 AM on workdays.
• Weekend Availability: Must be available and willing to work on Saturdays when operational demands require it.
• Location Preference: Ideally resides in Bellville or immediately surrounding areas to ensure easy, reliable, and punctual daily travel for early morning shifts.

Minimum Requirements:

• Driver’s License: Valid South African driver’s license (Code 8 / B or Code 10 / C1) with proven driving experience.
• Clear Record: Clear criminal/police record (candidates must be willing to undergo police clearance verification).
• References: Minimum of 2 contactable, verifiable references from previous employers.
• Punctuality & Reliability: Outstanding timekeeping and a dependable work ethic.
• Physical Capability: Physically fit and comfortable with regular lifting, loading, and handling of bakery crates.
• Professional Attitude: Respectful, polite, and customer-oriented when interacting with store managers, receiving personnel, and retail staff.
