Deputy Principal

About the Role

The Deputy Principal plays a vital role in supporting the school leadership team, focusing on enhancing educational quality and fostering an inclusive learning environment. You will be instrumental in contributing to strategic planning, implementing educational programs, and ensuring the effective management of staff and resources within the school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in the overall management and administration of the school, while promoting a positive learning culture.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement the IEB curricula that meet the diverse needs of all students.
• Monitor and evaluate student performance, providing regular feedback to teachers and devising strategies to improve outcomes.
• Oversee the implementation of school policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with educational regulations and standards.
• Foster a collaborative environment among staff, students, and parents to enhance community engagement and support.
• Lead professional development initiatives for educators to promote best practices in teaching and learning.
• Manage a teaching load in line with Deputy Principals excepted load.
• Manage student disciplinary processes and promote a safe, respectful, and supportive school climate.
• Participate in school committees and contribute to various initiatives aimed at school improvement.

Requirements

• A relevant teaching qualification and a strong understanding of the South African education system.
• A valid permanent SACE certificate.
• Proven track record in educational leadership or management within a school setting.
• Demonstrable experience in curriculum development and implementation, as well as strategies for student enhancement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
• Skilled in data analysis to monitor student performance and inform school improvement strategies.
• Proficiency in educational technologies and administrative software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a similar field.
• Certification in school leadership or management is an advantage.
• Participation in relevant professional organizations or continuous professional development.
