RESPONSIBILITIES**:**
A vacancy exists within ARRB Systems South Africa for a Desktop Engineer to provide essential IT support across the organisation. The successful candidate will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage desktops, laptops, VDI and VPC environments, and support end-user IT needs. This role is based at our Westmead office and requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who is proactive, customer-focused, and eager to develop their technical skills in a dynamic environment.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Provide first-line support to staff and customers, troubleshoot hardware/software issues, manage desktops, laptops, and peripherals, and train end-users.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain operating systems, applications, and profiles; manage VDI and VPC environments.
- Network & Connectivity: Monitor and resolve basic network and connectivity issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and enforce security policies; educate users on best practices.
- Track and maintain hardware, software, and licenses; assist with procurement and vendor management.
- Log requests, maintain knowledge articles, and submit regular reports on IT activities.
- Research, recommend, and implement technology improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field is advantageous.
- Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent preferred.
- 3–5 years of Desktop Support experience in a fast-paced ICT environment.
- Experience supporting Windows OS environments, common business applications, and using ticketing systems (e.g., Freshservice).
- Experience with VDI and VPC environments preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEGE:
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical users.
- Customer-focused mindset with a service-oriented approach.
- Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure and meet SLA requirements.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and independent problem-solving skills.\
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and resilience in a dynamic environment.
- Documentation and training skills, pragmatic and results oriented.
- Valid passport and Code 8 driver’s license
