Desktop Support Technician (Johannesburg - Gauteng)

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to provide technical support to users and ensure the smooth operation of desktop, hardware, software, and network-related services.

The successful candidate will be required to work on a shift basis, including night shifts, and must be available to start immediately. The position is based in Boksburg and is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-line desktop and technical support to users.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity-related issues.
• Provide support for Windows operating systems and standard business applications.
• Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues, including LAN and Wi-Fi-related problems.
• Perform software installations, upgrades, configurations, and updates.
• Assist with user account, password, and access-related issues.
• Log, update, monitor, and resolve incidents and service requests in accordance with agreed service levels.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate technical teams when required.
• Assist with IT equipment deployments, upgrades, replacements, and maintenance.
• Provide technical support during planned maintenance and system upgrade activities, including after-hours and night-shift work.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, equipment, and technical activities.
• Follow company and client IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
• Provide professional and customer-focused support to all users.
• Perform any other reasonable IT support duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• IT qualification, diploma, or relevant technical certification will be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a Desktop Support / IT Support Technician role.
• Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop environments.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices.
• Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting knowledge.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and user administration will be advantageous.
• Experience working with an IT service desk or ticketing system will be advantageous.
• Good understanding of IT support processes and service-level requirements.
• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
