Join Bidfreight Port Operations as a Diesel Mechanic based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, where you will leverage your 3-5 years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic expertise, including servicing, fault-finding, and repairing commercial vehicles such as trucks, forklifts, and earthmoving machinery. This full-time, on-site role requires a trade certificate in diesel mechanics, strong supervisory skills, computer literacy in MS Office, and proficiency in English plus isiXhosa, isiZulu, or Afrikaans. • Minimum of a matric level of education and diesel Mechanic
• 3 - 5 years of experience in maintaining, servicing, fault-finding and repairing heavy-duty trucks, yellow equipment, forklifts, ETT pushers or similar commercial vehicles.
• Trade Certificate: Diesel Mechanic is required
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Assertiveness and strong supervisory skills are further important necessary attributes
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to communicate in English and isiXhosa/ IsiZulu/ Afrikaans is essential
• Proven ability to work proactively and without supervision as part of a team in a disciplined manner using initiative
• Prepared to perform shift work, overtime, and duty weekends
• Valid Forklift, Front End Loader and Excavator licenses is advantages
• Valid code 8/10 driver’s license

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, diagnostic reports.
• Commitment to safety, attention to detail, and adherence to regulatory and company standards.
• Ability to work on-site, manage time effectively, and collaborate with operations and Gearstore, Operation teams.
• Apply established service procedures and policies to ensure repairs are completed safely, accurately, and in line with workshop Automotive /Heavy duty earth moving machine quality standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture by following Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, promptly reporting hazards or incidents, and helping to ensure a safe workplace for all team members.
• To ensure operational equipment is in satisfactory working order
• Daily preventative gear store maintenance and minor repair’s Operate within the company ISO and NOSA structures
