Diesel Mechanic

An EME based in Pretoria East, Waltloo is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and results-driven Diesel Mechanic to join its growing technical team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Trade Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (minimum requirement)
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of diesel-powered vehicles, machinery, and equipment
• Sound understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, fault finding, preventative maintenance, and compliance requirements
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, service manuals, and maintenance documentation
• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous

Mandatory Registration and Certification Requirements:

• Valid Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
• Relevant industry certifications and licences where applicable
• Proof of registration with relevant industry regulatory or statutory bodies (if applicable)
• Certified proof of qualifications
• Valid certification in line with applicable industry regulations and standards

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong planning, organisational, and reporting skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles, machinery, and equipment
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults and provide effective technical solutions
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable regulations, standards, and manufacturer specifications
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and quality requirements
• Compile service reports and maintenance documentation
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of diesel equipment
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers where required
• Ensure all diesel mechanical work complies with relevant legislation and industry standards
