Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical qualification (Essential/Minimum)
- N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
- Certified Trade Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (MQA/QCTO) (Essential/Minimum)
- 2-3 years relevant experience in fitting, servicing, maintenance, and overhauling of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment (Essential/Minimum)
- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code B (Recommended/Desirable)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code C (Recommended/Desirable)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC (Recommended/Desirable)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC1 (Recommended/Desirable)
- Ability to perform inspections and maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems according to specifications and schedules
- Strong adherence to health and safety practices, including hazard identification and risk assessments
- Demonstrated ability to manage license renewals and maintain accurate inventory records (if applicable)
- Effective communication skills and willingness to transfer knowledge and mentor trainees
- Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and teamwork within a dynamic and inclusive work environment
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, vehicles, and machinery to identify defects or malfunctions; report issues promptly and carry out necessary repairs following established schedules.
- Attend to vehicle and equipment breakdowns immediately, utilizing appropriate diagnostic instruments and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Manage administration tasks including the timely renewal of licenses, maintaining accurate monthly license renewal registers, and updating inventory records for vehicles and equipment as required.
- Re-condition specific components and spares for installation to maintain equipment operability and extend lifecycle.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies, participate in hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA), and promote good housekeeping to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman; plan and order parts proactively to minimize production delays caused by tool or equipment failure.
- Transfer knowledge and provide mentorship to Artisan Aides and trainees to enhance their skills and contribute to team development.
- Take responsibility for the quality of maintenance and new installations within the functional area, ensuring adherence to service standards and operational excellence.
- Demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and a results-oriented approach by adapting to changing business needs and supporting a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
