Job description
We are looking for a Junior Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Vereeniging. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience working on diesel engines in a workshop or production environment and be willing to learn and grow within a fast-paced operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on diesel vehicles and mechanical equipment
- Maintain and repair site equipment including forklifts, TLB, generator, and company vehicles
- Assist with fault finding on diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems
- Perform inspections and report defects before breakdowns occur
- Maintain service records and job cards
- Support breakdown response to ensure minimal downtime
- Work safely and follow workshop and maintenance procedures
Minimum Requirements
- At least 2–3 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic (or diesel assistant mechanic)
- Good understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and basic electrics
- Able to work under pressure in a production / industrial environment
- Must be based in (or willing to travel daily to) Vereeniging
Advantageous
- Relevant trade qualification or technical training
- Experience on forklifts, trucks, generators, plant equipment, and vehicles
- Valid driver’s licence
Pay: From R120,00 per hour
Work Location: In person
