Job description
As our Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of commercial trucks in our Truck manufacturing plant. A strong focus on preventive maintenance means you will also play a key role in catching problems before they develop into costly breakdowns.
- Perform thorough diagnostics on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment to accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Carry out scheduled maintenance including oil services, air brake inspections, lubrication, battery checks, and torque verification on critical fasteners
- Repair or replace worn and damaged components such as brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors, and electrical wiring and parts
- Service and repair forklifts, earthmoving, and construction equipment as required
- Implement preventive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend the operational life of fleet vehicles and equipment
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair progress clearly to supervisors and service advisors
Qualifications & requirements
- Red Seal certification (required)
- Valid Code 14 driver's licence
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Truck Mechanic in a commercial motor industry environment
- Demonstrated experience with air brake systems
- Working knowledge of petrol engine systems
- Proven diagnostic and fault-finding ability across multiple vehicle types
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
- Fluent English communication — written and verbal
