About The Job Diesel Mechanic UG JOB TITLE: Diesel Mechanic UG BUSINESS UNIT: Shafts JOB GRADING: N/A CLOSING DATE: 30 July 2026 Purpose Of The Job To provide an engineering technical service to a section at a Business Area. The role of a Diesel Mechanic is to repair service and maintain all diesel-hydraulics and electro-hydraulics, vehicles and machinery so that optimal utilization of the equipment can be achieved.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4) is essential.
• Certified competent as a Diesel Mechanic (Trade Certificate) is essential.
• 3 years Diesel Mechanic experience in a mining environment is essential.
• Sandvik machine will be advantageous

Duties And Responsibilities

• Compiles work priority list and determine resource requirements.
• Compiles and completes accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports, shift and workorder reports and ad hoc reports.
• Completes and approves allocated work orders.
• Completes planned maintenance schedules for stock items required.
• Reports defects and abnormalities to appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Ensures clear teamwork expectations and plans.
• Performs equipment maintenance services according to the required standards and specifications.
• Implements maintenance schedules.
• Makes materials and equipment available for the shift requirements.
• Utilises appropriate tools to complete tasks.
• Co-coordinates multi-task team members to complete assigned work tasks or orders.
• Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
• Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
