Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Truck diagnostics and advanced fault finding using modern diagnostic tools
- Engine overhauls, gearbox, and transmission repairs
- Brake system maintenance including air brake inspections and adjustments
- Suspension and steering repairs to ensure safe handling of heavy-duty vehicles
- Electrical system troubleshooting (alternators, starters, wiring faults)
- Hydraulic system servicing for lifting and loading equipment
- Performing preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime
- Conducting roadworthiness inspections in line with legal and safety standards
- Maintaining accurate service records and reporting completed work
- Collaborating with drivers and fleet managers to schedule repairs and minimize operational delays
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop
- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks
- Perform repairs and maintenance on trucks including Mercedes, DAF, Powerstar, Iveco, and MAN.
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repairsEnsure all work meets safety and quality standards
Breakdown of Experience:
- Electrical systems: wiring, alternators, starters, lighting, and fault diagnosis Mechanical repairs: engines, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, and suspension
- Hydraulics: troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems
- Dispatch to breakdowns: responding to roadside emergencies and providing on-site repairs
Requirements:
- Trade Test Certificate / Diesel Mechanic qualification
- Minimum 5- 10 years’ experience working with heavy-duty trucks, electrical repair work Strong background in electrical experience and general truck maintenance
- Strong knowledge of Code 14 vehicles and long-haul fleet maintenance
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Valid driver’s license (Code 14 preferred)
