Dietitian

RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS: Nutritional management while ensuring the provision of optimum nutritional care for patients. Implement and monitor nutrition indicators and produce quality reports. Participate in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme according to prescribed policies, protocols and guidelines. Collaborate with relevant programmes and stakeholders for nutrition activities. Provide support to the department and Unit Managers on nutrition-related activities. Use evidence-based behaviour change strategies to support customers in developing healthy habits across various aspects such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, and mindset. Work with the wider HSDS teams to ensure safe and effective practice across the board.

COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations, policies, strategies, guidelines and protocols within health that impact on nutrition outcomes. Knowledge of the science of nutrition, social determinants and commercial determinants of health and their impact on nutrition and health outcomes. Knowledge of research methodologies for data collection, analysis and presentation, use of current evidence-based nutrition for improving nutrition outcomes, policy, strategies, guideline and training manual development and review process and the principles of effective monitoring and evaluation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A four-year Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Dietetics or Nutrition. Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). At least five (5) years’ appropriate experience as a Dietitian.
