Job description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the positioning, packaging and sale of advanced AI driven advertising and media solutions powered by Perion technology, alongside the Mediamark Digital Portfolio platforms. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic client relationships, and positioning Perion’s AI-driven capabilities and Mediamark’s digital solutions as performance-led offerings within the evolving digital media and advertising ecosystem.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Building profitable stakeholder (agency /client / Brand) relationships & growing new revenue:

  • Achieve allocated digital sales revenue targets across the overall digital portfolio, including revenue generated through Perion AI solutions and the Mediamark Digital Portfolio platforms.

  • Drive revenue growth across individual digital publishers and platform partners within the Mediamark Digital Portfolio through the strategic management and growth of an allocated portfolio of agencies and clients

  • Management and Co-ordination of Perion sales working with both dedicated staff and contractors to achieve optimal results

  • Maintain a strong focus on both Programmatic and Direct/Customised digital sales, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of evolving buying methodologies, advertising technologies, and AI-driven media solutions.

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with key agency stakeholders, direct clients, advertisers, and decision-makers across leading South African media agencies and brands.

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and market engagement. • Develop and deepen industry relationships to strengthen market presence and unlock commercial growth opportunities.

  • Conceptualise, develop, and present relevant media and advertising solutions tailored to client objectives, leveraging audience data, market insights, campaign intelligence, and strategic storytelling within proposals and presentations.

  • Utilise all available market intelligence, audience insights, data platforms, and industry touchpoints to ensure client conversations, recommendations, and solutions remain relevant, innovative, and commercially impactful.

  • Manage and maintain accurate sales processes, pipeline reporting, forecasting, CRM systems, and administrative requirements efficiently and effectively.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of digital media platforms, programmatic ecosystems, ad technologies, and performance-driven advertising solutions.

  • Work closely with Ad Operations, campaign management, and internal teams to monitor campaign delivery, optimise performance, and ensure all client deliverables and KPIs are achieved, supporting long-term client retention and repeat business opportunities.

  • Relevant qualification in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field preferred.

  • Tertiary education, preferably a degree.

  • An established Agency and Client Network within the Digital Domain and beyond.

  • Completion of relevant training courses and certifications in programmatic advertising, including trading methodologies, audience targeting, optimisation strategies, ad technologies, and broader digital media competencies.

Experience:

  • Proven track record at a leading South African media owner in digital media sales (online/mobile) with consistent achievement of revenue targets.
  • At least 3 years of agency / client facing digital media sales experience.
  • Experience and high working knowledge of Programmatic and Direct Digital sales.
  • Experience of presenting to large and small audiences of various levels within a business.
  • Strong understanding of the advertising and the digital media landscape.
  • Experience selling technology, programmatic, or AI-driven media solutions advantageous.
