Job description
The San Hair is a fast-growing hair & beauty retail brand with locations across major malls nationwide. We are looking for a commercially sharp, digitally fluent marketer to own our online presence, drive eCommerce revenue on Shopify, and grow organic reach through strategic SEO.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on, performance-focused role. You will manage the full digital marketing mix from day-to-day Shopify store operations and product merchandising, to SEO strategy, paid social, email campaigns, and analytics reporting. You will work closely with store managers and the buying team to ensure online activity supports in-store sales and brand positioning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
What You Will Own
Shopify & eCommerce
- Manage and continuously optimise the Shopify storefront — product listings, collections, navigation, and UX
- Write compelling, SEO-optimised product descriptions and category copy
- Set up and manage promotions, discount codes, bundles, and seasonal campaigns
- Monitor conversion rates, cart abandonment, and site performance; implement A/B tests
- Coordinate with fulfilment to ensure inventory accuracy between physical stores and the online store
- Manage Shopify apps, integrations (payment gateways, loyalty, reviews, email tools)
SEO & Content
- Develop and execute an ongoing SEO strategy — keyword research, on-page optimisation, technical SEO, link-building
- Produce and publish blog content, buying guides, and educational articles aligned to search intent
- Monitor rankings, organic traffic, and search visibility using Google Search Console and SEMrush / Ahrefs
- Conduct regular technical SEO audits (site speed, schema, mobile usability, crawlability)
Paid & Social Media
- Plan and manage Meta (Facebook & Instagram) and Google Ads campaigns aligned to monthly targets
- Create and schedule social media content (Reels, Stories, TikTok) that reflects the brand aesthetic
- Manage influencer and brand ambassador relationships
Analytics & Reporting
- Own weekly and monthly digital performance reporting — traffic, revenue, ROAS, CAC, email metrics
- Use GA4, Shopify Analytics, and Meta Business Suite to inform decisions
- Present clear insights and recommended actions to management
REQUIREMENTS
What We Are Looking For- Non-negotiable skills:
Shopify Admin - Shopify Themes / Liquid (Basic) - Technical & On-Page Seo - Keyword Research - Google Analytics 4- Google Search Console - Meta Ads Manager - Email Marketing - Canva / Adobe Creative Suite - Copywriting - Google Ads - Tiktok for Business
- 3+ years in a digital marketing or eCommerce role
- Proven track record growing Shopify-based revenue
- Strong SEO portfolio — demonstrable ranking improvements
- Experience with SEO tools: SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz
- Solid understanding of customer journey and funnel optimisation
- Excellent written English and ability to adapt brand voice
- Self-starter who works well without heavy oversight
- Retail or beauty industry experience advantageous
ADVANTAGEOUS
Bonus Points
- Experience marketing hair, beauty, or fashion products
- Familiarity with Shopify Markets or multi-store setups
- Knowledge of Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or Omnisend for email automation
- Basic video editing for Reels and TikTok content
- Understanding of South African digital consumer behaviour
