EC Cape Town is looking for a Director of Studies to lead and manage the academic division. You will be responsible for delivering an outstanding, student-centred learning experience, while developing and supporting our teaching team to achieve high academic standards.

When you join our team as the Director of Studies, you will:

  • Support the Centre Director with the overall management and leadership of the centre and achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Build and lead an engaged, high-performing and student-focused teaching team through effective recruitment, induction and ongoing development.
  • Ensure academic requirements set by relevant regulatory bodies and recognised best practice are implemented and maintained.
  • Organise student assessments, needs analysis and academic induction.
  • Develop the teaching team through observations, personalised development plans and individual and team training.
  • Ensure students’ academic progress and learning needs are being met by seeking feedback, resolving issues and providing academic guidance.
  • Work closely with the Centre Director and Global Academic & Operations Manager to achieve key academic KPIs, including classroom averages, teacher engagement, student satisfaction (NPS), student progress and teaching delivery costs.

To be a good Director of Studies, you will be:

  • Educated to degree level with an MA TESOL and/or DELTA, with English Language teaching and academic administration experience.
  • An experienced leader with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a team of teachers.
  • Organised, analytical and able to prioritise and delegate effectively.
  • Approachable and flexible, with the ability to think on your feet and solve problems as they arise.
  • A strong planner who can anticipate busy periods and ensure the right teaching resources are in place.
  • An effective communicator who can build strong relationships with students, teachers and colleagues.
  • Comfortable balancing different priorities, from budgets and staffing to teacher cover and delivering CPD sessions.
