We are looking for an experienced Distribution Manager to lead distribution operations across our bakery and depot network in Pietermaritzburg . This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service levels, efficient route and fleet management, cost control, food safety compliance, and continuous improvement across the distribution function.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• Diploma/Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' distribution experience in the bread baking industry.
• At least 3 years' management experience.
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing/distribution environment.
• Strong analytical, budgeting, reporting, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems (Syspro advantageous).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day bakery and depot distribution operations.
• Optimize routes, fleet utilization, and distribution costs.
• Manage stock receiving, dispatch, transfers, returns, and reconciliations.
• Drive service excellence through effective route performance reviews and daily debrief processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, quality, governance, and risk standards.
• Manage and develop drivers, depot supervisors, and distribution teams.
• Drive continuous improvement, performance management, and operational efficiencies.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, Production, HR, Transport, and other stakeholders.
