Job description
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Drill Rig Technician to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have 3–10 years of hands-on experience working on drill rigs, with strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic capabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with practical knowledge and experience working on Sunward and/or CRCHI drilling machines.
Minimum Requirements
- 3–10 years’ experience working on drill rigs
- Earthmoving Equipment Trade or Diesel Mechanic Trade qualification preferred
- Strong technical and mechanical knowledge
- Proven experience with fault-finding and troubleshooting
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Experience conducting repairs, maintenance and servicing of drill rigs
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams and specifications
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
- Sunward and/or CRCHI machine experience will be highly advantageous
- Good reporting and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel and work on customer sites when required
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair and maintain drill rigs and associated equipment
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance
- Perform comprehensive fault-finding and diagnostics
- Identify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults and implement effective solutions
- Conduct inspections and ensure machines are maintained to required standards
- Attend to breakdowns and provide technical support to customers
- Complete accurate service reports, diagnostic reports and job cards
- Provide technical feedback on recurring faults and recommend corrective action
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and provide technical assistance when required
