Job description
Day of the Dead is an annual, premium Cape Town event hosted over the Halloween season, blending sophisticated artistry with the vibrant, immersive spirit of Día de los Muertos. This singular annual event brings together a community that appreciates high-concept experiences, understated style, and memorable design. From dramatic lighting and curated live performances to a chic, artistic atmosphere, we provide an exclusive space where elegance, creativity, and energy intersect for one unforgettable night.
We are looking for a reliable, highly professional Logistics Driver to join our production team in Cape Town. This role is crucial for executing the complex infrastructure behind our annual showcase. You will lead the physical movement of high-end materials, custom equipment, and key personnel during our intense pre-event preparation phase, as well as handling tight schedule requirements during the live setup and strike.
Everyday Tasks & Responsibilities
The Build-Up Phase (Pre-Event Supply Chains):
- Inventory Collection: Navigate Cape Town routes safely to pick up custom decor pieces, high-end styling props, lighting equipment, and specialized venue materials from local fabricators and rental suppliers.
- Office & Production Errands: Handle daily administrative and operational supply runs for the office team, ensuring essential production gear and materials are sourced and dropped off on schedule.
- Asset Care: Assist with loading and unloading delicate staging items and decor props, ensuring they are packed securely in the vehicle and remain undamaged during transport.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular routine vehicle checks, ensuring transport vehicles are fueled up, impeccably clean, and fully operational ahead of heavy delivery days.
On-the-Day Operations (Event Setup & Strike):
- Site Delivery Logistics: Manage time-sensitive deliveries directly to the venue space, working efficiently alongside the production and site crews during the busy morning build window.
- Performer & VIP Shuttling: Provide punctual, professional transport for designated event performers, artists, or high-profile guests to and from the venue or accommodation.
- On-Demand Runs: Remain available on-site for emergency collections, quick technical replacement pickups, or urgent production errands as directed by the management team.
- Post-Event Collection: Support the load-out and strike crew after the event ends, returning valuable event infrastructure and supplies back to storage facilities safely.
What We Need From You (Requirements)
- Driving Credentials: A valid South African driver's license with a completely clean driving record and substantial experience driving commercial or luxury vehicles.
- Route Mastery: Outstanding knowledge of Cape Town, its central business district, major event venues, and suppliers, with the ability to navigate traffic efficiently.
- Physical Capability: Ability to handle the physical side of event logistics, including lifting, packing, and shifting bulky staging items and event equipment boxes.
- Absolute Punctuality: A disciplined, reliable approach to time management—ensuring logistics timelines are met precisely so venue setup stays on track.
- Professional Conduct: A respectful, calm, and discreet attitude when interacting with production partners, high-end suppliers, and event talent.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: A stable monthly salary of R9,500 – R11,500 based on your event logistics or professional driving experience.
- Dynamic Workspace: Step away from standard, repetitive delivery routes and work within a highly creative, premier production environment.
- Strong Team Connection: Work closely with a grounded, collaborative operational core where your logistical role is vital to the success of our flagship event.
