Driver - Green Acres Farm

The Driver will be responsible for operating the organisation's vehicles for deliveries, collections daily to facilitate normal activities of the organisation and transport staff according to the driver request and approvals.

Driving & Deliveries:

• Complete scheduled farm deliveries accurately and on time.
• Follow the Green Acres delivery schedule, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as the primary delivery days.
• Monday and Friday are generally used for purchasing, collections, vehicle checks and preparation.
• Transport candidates and staff when authorised and required.
• Collect and deliver produce, eggs, bread, materials, equipment, stock and other approved items.
• Purchase and collect bread and other farm requirements as instructed.
• Complete all trips safely and comply with road signs and regulations.
• Record every trip, kilometre reading and relevant trip details in the vehicle logbook.

Vehicle Care & Maintenance:

• Conduct daily vehicle checks before use.
• Ensure the bakkie is clean and washed regularly.
• Check oil and basic vehicle requirements and report abnormalities immediately.
• Notify the Farm Manager when services are due.
• Report faults, damage, tyre issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Submit completed logbooks and vehicle checks as required.
• Ensure the vehicle is used responsibly and only for authorised farm business.

Purchasing, Collections & Farm Support:

• Collect materials, supplies, equipment and other items required by the farm.
• Assist with purchasing activities on designated days and as authorised.
• Verify that correct quantities and items have been collected.
• Obtain and retain receipts/documentation where required.
• Perform other reasonable driver-related farm duties as instructed.

Overtime, Weekend & Candidate Support:

• Occasional Saturday work may be required, including transporting candidates for activities such as chicken slaughtering.
• Overtime may be required according to operational needs.
• Where overtime is worked, time off will be given back during the week in accordance with the applicable process.
• Weekend and overtime requirements will be communicated as far in advance as reasonably possible.

Formal Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Valid Code 8/10 driver’s licence as applicable to the vehicle
• PDP where required for authorised passenger transport

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years relevant driving experience preferred
• Proven safe driving record
• Experience with deliveries, collections and vehicle logbooks preferred
