About the Role
As a Light Duty Driver at VW Edenvale, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of vehicles and materials within our facility and to various locations. This position primarily focuses on light-duty driving responsibilities, supporting our operational needs while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate light-duty vehicles to transport goods and materials to designated locations efficiently and safely.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring the protection of items during transit.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize delivery schedules and routes.
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety for yourself and others on the road.
- Document and report any incidents, delays, or issues encountered during transport.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients and colleagues, representing the VW brand positively.
Requirements
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrable experience as a light duty driver or in a similar role within a logistics or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Proven track record of timely and efficient transportation of goods.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and routes as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the automotive industry or with vehicle transportation.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Certificate in defensive driving or similar qualification.
- Knowledge of local area and best practices for efficient routing.
