DRONE PILOT

Tactical Security Services is recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced Drone Pilot to join the team. The successful candidate will support professional drone operations within the security environment, including surveillance, patrol and specialised operational deployments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• SACAA Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC): Valid commercial Remote Pilot Certificate in accordance with SACAA Part 101 requirements.
• AVSEC Awareness Certification: Valid SACAA-approved Aviation Security (AVSEC) training certification applicable to Remote Operator Certificate (ROC) operations.
• Specialised Flight Ratings: Valid Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and night operations ratings/endorsements.
• Aviation Medical Certificate: Valid Class 3 Aviation Medical Certificate issued by an SACAA-approved aviation medical examiner.
• Radiotelephony Licence: Valid Restricted Radiotelephony Certificate/Licence for aeronautical communications.
• PSiRA Registration: Active PSiRA registration. Grade C or higher is preferred.
• Criminal Record & Vetting: Must have a clear criminal record and be willing to undergo relevant security screening and vetting. National Key Point (NKP) clearance may be required depending on operational deployment.
• Flight Experience: Proven practical drone operating experience with verifiable logged flight hours.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience operating enterprise-grade remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) equipped with technologies such as:
• Thermal imaging
• Infrared imaging
• Optical zoom cameras
• Surveillance and monitoring payloads
• Computer Literacy: Proficient in Windows-based operating systems and relevant drone flight, monitoring and reporting software.
• Driver's Licence: Valid South African Code B (Code 08) manual driver's licence and ability to travel for mobile operational deployments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities may include:

• Conducting scheduled and operational drone patrols.
• Performing day and night surveillance operations.
• Conducting BVLOS operations where authorised and operationally required.
• Operating thermal, infrared and optical camera systems for surveillance and incident detection.
• Supporting security teams during operational deployments and incidents.
• Maintaining accurate flight logs, operational records and required aviation documentation.
• Conducting pre-flight and post-flight inspections.
• Ensuring drone operations are conducted in accordance with applicable SACAA regulations, company procedures and ROC requirements.
• Maintaining operational readiness of aircraft, batteries, payloads and associated equipment.
• Reporting technical defects, incidents and operational concerns.
• Coordinating with operational personnel and relevant aviation authorities where required.
