ECD Teacher

Position: ECD Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Department: Early Childhood Development

Location: Neturena, Johannesburg South

Job Purpose

To provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment that supports the children's learning, development and wellbeing through age-appropriate teaching and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of all children at all times.
• Support children's emotional, social, physical and cognitive development.
• Assist with daily routines including meals, toileting, changing and nap times where required.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, organised and stimulating classroom.
• Manage children's behaviour positively and professionally.
• Monitor children's development and report concerns to the Principal/School Manager.
• Maintain accurate attendance registers, lesson plans and required records.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding children's progress and daily needs.
• Report injuries, incidents, safety hazards and other concerns immediately.
• Attend staff meetings, training and school events when required.
• Work effectively with colleagues and support the overall operation of the school.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and lawful instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
• Take proper care of school property, equipment and learning materials.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant ECD qualification/certificate.
• 3 years previous experience working with young children.
• Good communication and classroom management skills.
• Patience, reliability and a genuine commitment to children's development.
• First Aid certification will be an advantage.

• Certificate (Preferred)
