Electrical Engineer – Solar Asset ManagementAbout the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, operating within the solar energy industry, for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead their asset management division.
The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact between the client’s portfolio of solar assets and the business. They will be responsible for overseeing operations and maintenance, monitoring asset performance, coordinating technical interventions, and managing client relationships across the division.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the solar asset management division, overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance activities.
- Act as the key liaison between clients and the business, managing relationships and ensuring service delivery expectations are consistently met.
- Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on solar installations, coordinating with on-site teams via platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
- Monitor solar asset performance data and identify technical issues requiring intervention, investigation, or escalation.
- Coordinate and track scheduled maintenance programmes, ensuring work is completed in line with agreed service levels.
- Prepare and present technical reports, performance summaries, and updates for clients.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients regarding asset performance, maintenance, and technical issues.
- Support business development initiatives where applicable, contributing to client retention and identifying opportunities for service growth.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng), National Diploma in Electrical (Preffered), Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- 3–5 years of engineering experience, with demonstrable exposure to solar energy systems.
- Solid understanding of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) principles within the solar or renewable energy sector.
- Strong technical problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage confidently and professionally with clients.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Preferred Experience
The following experience would be advantageous:
- Hands-on experience in solar asset management or a dedicated solar O&M role.
- Experience in a client-facing, account management, or relationship management role within a technical environment.
- Exposure to remote monitoring platforms and fault-diagnostic tools used within solar installations.
- Experience coordinating on-site technicians or maintenance teams.
- Experience in sales or business development within the engineering, energy, or renewable energy sector.

Pay: R30 000,00 - R55 000,00 per month
