Electrical Technician

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician / Elconop 3 to join our team in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal, on a temporary basis for approximately 1–2 months due to increased workload.

We are specifically looking for someone with solid practical electrical experience who is confident working in the field and is capable of attending routine electrical jobs without requiring continuous on-site supervision.

The position involves residential and commercial electrical work in Mtubatuba and surrounding areas.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting
• General electrical maintenance and repairs
• Electrical installations and alterations
• Attending scheduled jobs and electrical call-outs
• Assessing faults and accurately reporting findings
• Identifying materials and any additional work required
• Completing digital job cards, including photographs, materials used and work performed
• Communicating with the office regarding job progress and additional work required
• Working safely and professionally on client premises
• Taking proper care of company vehicles, tools and equipment

Requirements:

• Solid practical electrical experience is essential
• Elconop 3 classification preferred. Applicants with equivalent practical electrical experience will also be considered, subject to verification of qualifications and competency
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability
• Must be capable of carrying out routine electrical work within their level of competence without continuous on-site supervision
• Valid driver's licence is essential
• Must be comfortable driving to and working at different client sites
• Reliable, punctual and able to manage assigned work responsibly
• Professional and comfortable dealing with clients
• Good spoken and written English communication skills are essential for client interaction, understanding work instructions and completing digital job cards.
• Able to use a smartphone for digital job cards, photographs and communication
• Must be available to start as soon as possible

Position details:

• Temporary position: approximately 1–2 months
• 45 hours per week
• Based in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal
• Work performed at various client sites in Mtubatuba and surrounding areas
• R91.42–R110.00 per hour, depending on experience and applicable classification

This is a temporary position to provide additional capacity during a period of increased workload and does not carry an expectation or guarantee of permanent employment.

This is not an entry-level electrical assistant position. Applicants must have sufficient practical electrical experience to perform the duties required for the position.
