A leading Student Accommodation Property Management Company is seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Electrician (Building Maintenance) to join its Facilities team supporting a portfolio of student accommodation buildings across Pretoria and Johannesburg.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys working across multiple sites, solving technical challenges and ensuring safe, compliant and reliable electrical systems.

About The Role Reporting to the Facilities Manager / Property Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, repair, testing and inspection of electrical systems across multiple student accommodation properties.

You will ensure all electrical installations comply with South African regulations while maintaining uninterrupted operation of critical building infrastructure and issuing Electrical Certificates of Compliance (COCs) where required. Regular travel between Pretoria and Johannesburg properties forms part of this role.

POSITION INFO: Key Responsibilities Electrical Maintenance Perform preventative and reactive electrical maintenance Diagnose and repair electrical faults Install and maintain electrical wiring and distribution boards Maintain lighting, power outlets and electrical infrastructure Maintain generators, UPS systems and backup power Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns Compliance & Electrical Testing Conduct inspections and electrical testing Issue Electrical Certificates of Compliance (COCs) Ensure compliance with South African electrical regulations Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records Monitor electrical safety standards across all properties Building Maintenance Support general building maintenance where required Conduct routine inspections across multiple buildings Coordinate with contractors and external service providers Maintain company tools, testing equipment and vehicles Ensure uninterrupted building operations Health & Safety Comply with Occupational Health & Safety legislation Conduct risk assessments before commencing work Follow safe work procedures and PPE requirements Report hazards and unsafe conditions Promote a safe living environment for students and staff Minimum Requirements Qualified Electrician with a Red Seal Trade Certificate Valid Wireman's Licence Registered to issue Electrical Certificates of Compliance (COCs) Minimum 3-5 years' post-trade experience Experience in Building Maintenance, Facilities Management or Property Maintenance Experience maintaining Commercial, Residential or Student Accommodation buildings Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Valid South African driver's licence Willingness to travel regularly between Pretoria and Johannesburg properties Willingness to work after hours and attend emergency call-outs when required Highly Advantageous Student Accommodation experience Facilities Management experience Multi-site property maintenance experience Generator and UPS maintenance experience Preventative maintenance planning OHS compliance experience Building services maintenance Key Skills Qualified Electrician Red Seal Electrician Wireman's Licence Electrical Maintenance Building Maintenance Facilities Management Student Accommodation Property Maintenance Electrical Fault Finding Electrical Installations Preventative Maintenance Reactive Maintenance Generator Maintenance UPS Systems Distribution Boards Lighting Systems Electrical Compliance Certificates of Compliance (COCs) OHS Compliance Risk Assessments Contractor Management Technical Maintenance Building Services Why Join This Opportunity?
