SUMMARY: Our client in the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking to employ a qualified Electrician to join their manufacturing and maintenance team based in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical inspections, fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and infrastructure to minimise downtime, support production efficiency, and ensure optimal equipment performance. POSITION INFO: Requirements: Grade 12 Certificate (NQF 4) Trade Test Qualification - Electrician or Millwright (NQF 5) Up to 3 years' electrical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment Computer literacy in MS Office, SAP, ERP systems, and maintenance systems Knowledge of relevant maintenance practices, methodologies, SOPs, and engineering standards Knowledge of housekeeping and safety principles Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Good planning, organising, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to work independently and under pressure Proactive, resilient, flexible, and action-oriented approach Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills Responsibilities: Repairs and Breakdown Maintenance Diagnose the root causes of electrical and equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions Perform electrical repairs efficiently to minimise equipment downtime and prevent further damage Ensure equipment operates optimally in accordance with relevant technical, engineering, and manufacturing standards Support Production by proactively identifying and resolving process-related equipment issues Perform maintenance and repairs in accordance with approved production schedules Ensure all maintenance job cards are accurately completed and closed out on Shop Ware Provide timely reports to the Maintenance Supervisor on repairs, downtime, production support, and outstanding maintenance issues Maintain a complete and accurate maintenance paper trail and ensure product quality standards are upheld Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Perform first-off inspections and daily equipment checks following process or equipment changes Conduct routine preventative and predictive maintenance inspections Identify potential equipment failures and defects before they result in breakdowns Diagnose equipment conditions and perform the necessary maintenance interventions Coordinate maintenance activities with Supervisors and Production to minimise disruption to production Ensure the availability of required parts and components before executing planned maintenance Report abnormal or out-of-the-ordinary equipment conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor Provide timely feedback on equipment condition, maintenance activities, and potential failures Training and Development Assist with the training and development of apprentices Prepare training machines and equipment for practical maintenance training Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices during maintenance and repair activities Assist in developing apprentices' ability to safely perform maintenance and repair duties Compliance and Safety Operate in accordance with company controls, procedures, maintenance standards, and applicable regulations Promote compliance with safety, housekeeping, operational, and maintenance procedures Identify and report risks, hazards, and areas of concern to management Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment Support compliance with financial and operational controls Promote practices that minimise wasteful, irregular, and unnecessary expenditure Cost Control Support the effective and transparent use of maintenance resources Apply cost-effective maintenance practices and minimise unnecessary expenditure Reduce waste through efficient use of parts, materials, equipment, and other resources Report deviations from budgetary limits or unusual expenditure to the Maintenance Supervisor Customer and Production Support Maintain effective working relationships with Production, Maintenance, employees, and internal customers Provide responsive technical support to ensure continuity of production Identify and resolve equipment and process-related problems efficiently Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused approach Minimise maintenance comebacks, discrepancies, and repeat failures Support Production in achieving efficient and reliable manufacturing operations Please note that should you not receive a response within 2 weeks of applying, you may consider your application unsuccessful.
