Job Advert Summary

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, repair, and continuous improvement of all electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within the Packhouse and production environment. The role ensures maximum equipment reliability, minimises downtime, and supports operational efficiency through effective preventative and breakdown maintenance. The incumbent will ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, maintain accurate maintenance records, support projects and equipment upgrades, and provide technical assistance to production and maintenance teams to achieve Greenway Farms' operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • National N3 Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Qualified Electrician.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Wireman's Licence will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Proven experience in fault-finding, repairs, and maintenance of industrial electrical systems and production equipment.
  • Experience in a Packhouse, food processing, agricultural, manufacturing, or FMCG environment will be advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

  • Electrical motors and motor control circuits.
  • Three-phase electrical systems.
  • Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
  • PLC-controlled machinery (basic fault-finding).
  • Control panels and instrumentation.
  • Preventative maintenance systems.
  • Electrical drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Occupational Health and Safety legislation and electrical safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and production equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential electrical faults before failures occur.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control system faults efficiently to minimise production downtime.
  • Install, test, commission, and modify electrical equipment, motors, drives, control panels, sensors, and related systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable legislation, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures and maintain safe work practices at all times.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, inspection reports, and equipment histories.
  • Assist in developing and executing preventative maintenance programmes and schedules.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
  • Identify and report critical spare parts requirements and assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Support maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, and new installations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production and maintenance teams.
  • Assist mechanical maintenance personnel during shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
  • Participate in standby, call-out, overtime, weekend, and public holiday work as required by operational needs.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and potential risks to management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, maintenance costs, and equipment failures.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained within the workshop and work areas.
  • Perform any other maintenance-related duties reasonably required by management.
