About the Role
We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and motivated Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) inspections, identifying and rectifying non-compliant installations, supervising installation teams on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Certificate of Compliance (COC) Inspections
· Conduct thorough electrical inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial installations.
· Assess installations for compliance with SANS 10142-1 and applicable electrical regulations.
· Identify non-compliant electrical installations and prepare detailed defect reports.
· Perform testing using calibrated electrical testing equipment.
· Complete all inspection documentation accurately with inspection findings and recommended remedial work to clients in a professional manner.
Electrical Repairs & Installations
· Carry out fault finding and diagnostics on electrical systems.
· Perform repairs required to bring installations into compliance.
· Install, repair, and maintain electrical components.
· Ensure all installations comply with SANS 10142 and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Test completed work before handover.
Site Supervision (Foreman Duties)
· Supervise and allocate daily word to electricians, apprentices, and assistants on site.
· Ensure projects are completed according to drawings, specifications, and programme.
· Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
· Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with company Health & Safety procedures.
· Ensure correct use of PPE and safe working practices.
· Coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors where required.
· Report project progress, delays, and site issues to Management.
· Assist with commissioning and final handover of projects.
Administration
· Complete job cards and site reports.
· Record labour hours accurately.
· Submit inspection reports and COC documentation promptly.
Minimum Requirements
· Qualified Electrician (Trade Tested)
· Registered Installation Electrician or Master Installation Electrician (advantageous).
· Registered Electrical Tester for Single Phase and/or Installation Electrician registration with the Department of Employment and Labour (preferred).
· Valid Wireman's Licence (advantageous).
· Minimum 10 years' electrical installation experience.
· Minimum 3 years' experience supervising electrical teams.
· Proven experience conducting COC inspections.
· Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
· Valid driver's licence.
· Ability to work independently and under pressure.
· Willingness to travel to various sites.
Knowledge & Skills
· Thorough knowledge of SANS 10142.
· Strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements.
· Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
· Excellent leadership and communication skills.
· Strong planning and organisational ability.
· Good report writing and documentation skills.
· High attention to detail.
· Strong problem-solving abilities.
· Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
