- Step Into a Role That Makes an Impact! We’re seeking an Electrician (Utilities) to drive success at NBL Rosslyn Snacks in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The Utilities Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment related to utility services such as Electricity main supply (11KVA), Generators and controls, Tamco switch over panels, RM6 switches and Dry and Wet type transformers. This role ensures that all Electrical infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and stays in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Engineering Foreman: Utilities and Services
Key Areas of Impact:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, generators, meters, and other equipment associated with utility services.
- Maintain and service electrical systems for utility plants, substations, lights and distribution networks.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance reliability.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and outages.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, local codes, and regulations during all electrical work. (SANS)
- Collaborate with other utility workers and engineers to support system upgrades and new installations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Operate and maintain electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
- Follow proper lockout/ tag out procedures to ensure safety during maintenance and repair. (HIRA)
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
- Have at least 3 years’ post apprenticeship experience in a similar role within the Manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair, preferably in Utilities or FMCG
- Strong knowledge of MV and LV electrical systems, wiring, and safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. (RCA)
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities**.**
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
- Must be a qualified electrician with a recognized trade test (red seal) Must have a minimum theoretical qualification of N4
- Must hold a valid MV and LV switching certificate.
Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:
- Ability to interpret and understand complex electrical drawings
- Strong fault finding knowledge and techniques
- Must be committed to continuous improvement
- Knowledge of HACCP, FSSC and GMP is a prerequisite
- MV and LV switching qualification
- Knowledge of factory wiring standards
- Good knowledge of maintenance on Generators, transformers and MCC rooms
- Interpersonal skills
- High degree of problem solving ability
- Maintenance scope Planning skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills
