Job description
A primary class teacher educates young children (ages 5 to 11), planning lessons, tracking academic progress, and fostering social development in a safe, engaging environment. The role balances direct instruction with behavioral management, administrative record-keeping, and active communication with parents and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Planning: Design daily lesson plans and deliver curriculum-aligned instruction in core subjects like literacy, numeracy, and science.
- Assessment & Marking: Grade assignments, administer tests, and monitor student progress to adapt teaching methods.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, safe, and positive atmosphere that encourages student participation and fair conflict resolution.
- Parent Communication: Provide regular updates regarding student performance, behavior, and developmental milestones.
- Student Welfare: Ensure classroom safety, monitor playground breaks, and adhere strictly to school safeguarding protocols.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) or a relevant undergraduate degree paired with a teaching certification or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Communication: Clear verbal presentation skills and the ability to relate well to young children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience & Empathy: A naturally caring demeanor with high energy, resilience, and adaptability for managing diverse classroom needs.
- Organization: Strong time management to balance lesson pacing, administrative grading, and extra-curricular supervision.
