Salary: Market Related Sun International is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to manage complex employee relations matters across the full case lifecycle. The role will conduct investigations, manage disciplinary and grievance processes, ensure labour law compliance, prepare cases for dispute resolution and provide specialist ER guidance to managers and People & Business Enablement stakeholders.
Job Description
The Employee Relations Specialist manages the end-to-end employee relations case lifecycle, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes. The role conducts workplace investigations, manages disciplinary and grievance processes, prepares cases and represents the organisation in external dispute resolution forums, while providing specialist ER guidance to managers and PBE stakeholders.

- Dispute resolution, mediation and conflict management.
- Application and interpretation of the LRA, BCEA and other relevant employment legislation.
- Procedural and substantive fairness.
- ER risk identification and legal compliance.
- Preparation of charge sheets, case bundles, submissions and ER documentation.
- HRIS and employee relations case management systems.
- ER reporting, case trends and risk analysis.
- Manager guidance and coaching on ER processes.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Emotional maturity and conflict management.
- Sound judgement and decision-making.
- Communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Organisation, planning and prioritisation.
- Problem-solving and adaptability.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field (required).
- Advanced Diploma / Degree in Labour Law (preferred).
Experience:
- 5–8 years’ relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Employee Relations and/or Labour Relations.
- Experience managing disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing ER cases.
- Practical experience in dispute resolution and CCMA matters.
- Strong working knowledge of South African employment legislation, particularly the LRA and BCEA.
- Experience preparing formal ER documentation, case packs and supporting evidence.
- Experience advising managers and stakeholders on employee relations processes and requirements.
