The German International School Cape Town is looking to employ a teacher, for the subject English, grade 5 – 7 for the NSC IEB English stream classes.

Start Date: January 2027

English, Grades 5 – 7, for NSC IEB English Stream Classes

We are looking for a passionate English teacher who:

  • Relevant teaching qualification, preferably at a degree or postgraduate level with a specialisation in English. If holding an international qualification, all required SAQA evaluation certificates must be in order.
  • Has min. 5 years of teaching experience in the subject English.
  • A clear criminal clearance.
  • SACE registration.
  • Extensive experience with the NSC IEB assessment system.
  • A high level of computer literacy using modern technology teaching methods.
  • A passion for teaching learners in the GET phase.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • South African citizenship or permanent residency or a valid work permit.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that cater to a diverse range of learners and learning needs.
  • Develop clear lesson plans, teaching resources, and assessments that support strong English understanding and allow for accurate tracking of learner progress to guide future instruction.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all learners are encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity, and resilience in English.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development and review of the English curriculum to ensure teaching remains relevant, effective, and responsive to learner needs.
