Enrolled Nurse (EN) – General Ward (1 Position)

The Enrolled Nurse provides quality nursing support to Registered Nurses in delivering safe, patient-centred care within the General Ward. The General Ward Enrolled Nurse will assist in providing quality patient care in the medical/surgical ward.

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

• The primary responsibility of the General Ward Enrolled Nurse is to assist Registered Nurses in delivering safe and compassionate care to patients by supporting their daily needs and comfort. This involves performing routine observations, assisting with activities of daily living, and maintaining a clean ward environment.
• The role contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and smooth ward operations.

2. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA)

• Supportive daily patient care.
• Accurate observations and reporting.
• Contribution to ward safety and hygiene.
• Effective team communication.
• Compliance with policies.

3. KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist with patient care.
• Monitor and report patient observations.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Maintain infection prevention standards.
• Complete nursing documentation.
• Support the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Record observations.
• Support RNs during procedures.

4. REQUIREMENTS

• Current SANC registration as an Enrolled Nurse with valid APC.
• Minimum 1 year’s relevant experience in a hospital ward.
• Ability to work day and night shifts.
• Reliable with good communication skills.

5. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

• Enrolled Nurse Certificate / Qualification.
• Any additional nursing-related short courses (advantageous).
• Basic computer skills.
