Enrolled Nurse (EN) – ICU (1 Position)

The Enrolled Nurse supports Registered Nurses in delivering quality nursing care to critically ill patients while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and dignity. The ICU Enrolled Nurse will provide supportive nursing care to critically ill patients under RN supervision.

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

• The primary responsibility of the ICU Enrolled Nurse is to support Registered Nurses in delivering quality care to critically ill patients by assisting with daily nursing activities and maintaining patient comfort. This includes accurate monitoring of vital signs and timely reporting of any changes in patient condition.
• The role plays a vital part in upholding infection control standards and providing compassionate support to patients and their families.

2. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA)

• Basic patient care and comfort.
• Monitoring and accurate reporting.
• Support for ICU procedures.
• Infection control maintenance.
• Compassionate patient support

3. KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist with patient care.
• Monitor and report patient observations.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Maintain infection prevention standards.
• Complete nursing documentation.
• Support the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Record observations.
• Support RNs during procedures.

4. REQUIREMENTS

• Current SANC registration as an Enrolled Nurse with valid APC.
• Minimum 1 year’s experience in a hospital setting, preferably ICU.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts.
• Good observation and reporting skills.

5. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

• Enrolled Nurse Certificate / Qualification from a recognised institution.
• Additional short courses in Critical Care (advantageous).
• Basic computer literacy.
